Those of us who live, work and play in Huerfano County really like it! There's the majestic twin mountains, called the Spanish Peaks, that can be seen for 40 miles or more in some directions. Every mountain has its personalities and when you travel around, over or by many of them, every turn in the road gives you a unique and different perspective. You can literally photograph the same mountain at various locations but get changing scenery and breath-taking views.
The lakes, valleys, trees and deserts of southern Colorado, with mountains as backdrops everywhere you turn, make this area very picturesque. When you add a glimpse of deer, elk, big horn sheep and other birds and animals, as you traverse through the area, it truly is "nature at its best."
The Huerfano County Chamber of Commerce hopes you will visit our website often as it is everchanging, just like the seasons bring a different look to the area.
