Highway of Legends:

Highway of Legends, otherwise known as State Highway 12, is a mainly mountainous state highway through the Rocky Mountains in southern Colorado. Hwy 12 begins near Trinidad in Southern Colorado off of Interstate 25. Hwy 12 runs west to Stonewall then north past Monument and North Lakes and the western town of Cuchara up to La Veta and to Highway 160 then back to Walsenburg. The road is only open during the summer and early fall.

In all the Highway of Legends totals approximately 70 miles and is included in the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways system and runs through the San Isabel National Forest.
